Neglected Blog and Art and more Art.

I've been painting, well a lot of the time anyway. I've actually started to sell my art, which is an awesome feeling. Especially when I can afford to re stock on things I am using. There's still a lot I have to buy but am getting it a bit at a time. Have also learnt about ACEO's, they are paintings done on card, two and half inches by three and half inches, apparently quite a novel way for people to collect art. I've actually been doing a couple tonight, but have to get a lamp, as the light in here isn't the best to try and see with by night, especially things that small. Next will have to get a better camera, as don't think the one I have will be that fantastic for taking photos of miniatures. Hopefully after a few more sales of paintings will be able to do that.

I had a look at some of the ACEO's for sale on the net, and wow there's some really beautiful paintings, lots of very talented people.

The photo of the painting above is a reproduction I did of one of Ainslie Roberts works. I really love this one.

On Stalking and Cyberstalking

What would you think if every time you come into your blog, someone else does at exactly the same time everytime? Everytime. It doesn't matter if you come into it once or ten times a day, that person comes into it at exactly the same time. I find it very unusual. On the stats counter it shows 45 visits all from Chatswood, and all Vodafone ISP. All different ISP numbers, but the same suburb, and same ISP provider. Very strange. Not only that, but how do they know when you are coming into your blog at that time? I'll leave it up to you to make up your own mind. Myself I think I know whatI call it.

Waffles versus Pancakes.

Whats your preference? I haven't put a recipe on for waffles, as am going to try the pancake one and see what its like, it looks quite yummy. Plus haven't got a waffle maker any way. Years ago used to go to a waffle place in Sydney, actually it was in Chatswood Shopping Centre. Doubt very much if its there now. But it was so good. A lot of the time you used to think yourself very lucky if there was a spare table anywhere, to park your tired body after shopping. It was incredibly popular. I haven't been to N.S.W. for years and years. Would make a bet the change there would be unbelievable, wonder if Chatswood's changed much. Another lady put a recipe on her blog for pork marinated in apple juice, so am going to try that one soon also. Maybe the both on the same night. This week is more like winter here at the moment so would be a good week to try them both.
I seem to have quite an avid follower from Chatswood, thanks for stalking my blog I'm glad you enjoy it so much. I hope I can continue to keep you enthralled with thepieceofpinkpaper.

I have been reading a bit about Mohammed Ali, quite fascinating reading really, and will pop some on in a later blog. Thanks for visiting.

Two Legged Dog and Jellybean Joeys.

Can you believe the size of this, incredible isn't it. Thats a full grown red kangaroo above it. You kind of know it when you hit one of these while driving. I know the day I hit a couple I really felt like getting out, kicking it, and making kangaroo tail soup out of it. It was dead already though, and so was my car.

The sad part about it is that over 3.6 million of them are killed each year. Shot.

Joeys are the size of a jellybean when born, they are pink, blind, and hairless. (wow, thats scarey kind of sounds a bit like me at the moment, not the jellybean part).

Why don't joeys fly out of mum's pouch when she's hopping? The female kangaroo can control the muscles that control the size of her pouch and the size of the opening. She can contract the muscles, pulling the pouch tight against the body. If she wants to clean her pouch and wants the joey out, she can also relax the opening allowing the joey to fall out.
Kangaroos weigh less than 2 grams when they are born.
The tiny baby, called a joey, climbs up its mother's belly and into her pouch. The mother can't touch it because it is so tiny. She licks a path in her fur for it to travel along. Inside the pouch it grabs onto one of four teats and remains attached to it for about nine months.

I read on to some more information on them. Its really quite amazing. They can actually postpone their pregnancy if situations aren't favourable.
The other photo is of Faith, the only canine known to walk upright. Isn't she beautiful.
I'm actually starting to wonder about my puppy, she seems to be doing a bit of this lately herself, especially when there's food around. She follows me on TWO legs out of the kitchen.

A Chooks Life.

Can you imagine life like this? The chooks on the left are free range chickens. What a difference in the quality of life. The poor things above spend their whole two years of life, if that long, like this. Never knowing what the sun looks like, to scratch in the dirt, the feel of rain or the look of it. Or even probably just to turn around. You know we can make a difference if we all decide not to buy caged eggs, and only free range. Next time you are at the shops check to see where the eggs come from. Are they free range? if not ask the shop owners only to stock free range. Can you imagine suffering like above? Are your eggs really that important to you that you want to help to contribute to two years of extreme cruelty to their lives? Do you know chooks are wonderful pets, and have such individual personalities. Nothing is put on this earth to suffer like above. If you think the photo above is bad, just link to a couple of the sites promoting animal cruelty, and IF you can watch the videos showing the lives of these poor creatures I am sure it will change your mind on what kind of eggs you want to buy.
The info below is from a couple of sites who are against cruelty to animals.

Birds on egg farms don’t have enough space to lift one wing, and the wire grating of their cages constantly cuts into their feet.

Battery cages are stacked on top of each other, and excrement constantly falls onto the birds in the lower cages and into huge manure pits that line the sheds. The stench of ammonia and feces hangs heavy in the air, and disease runs rampant in the filthy, cramped sheds. Many birds die, and survivors are often forced to live with their dead and dying cagemates, who are left to rot. The light in the sheds is constantly manipulated in order to maximize egg production. Periodically, for two weeks at a time, the hens are only fed reduced-calorie feed. This process induces an extra laying cycle.

Today my sunflowers opened up. Pretty exciting for me, cause as I said I don't have much luck with flowers. When they open properly I hope to do a couple of paintings or drawings from them. We also got some rain, which is fantastic, we've hardly had any for so long. I only hope it spreads over to Victoria and helps to put the bushfires out that are still burning. Its supposed to rain for the next couple of days, so at least the gardens and lawns should get some benefit from it. Won't do anything fantastic for the dams or rivers though. The poor Murray river is in a bad state.
Well was going to do some cleaning today but don't think I'll be bothering with that too much, not with the dogs deciding they want to go in and out, and treading the mud through.

Canvas Found.

Yesterday while doing my cleaning, moved the chest of drawers and found a canvas I had forgotten I had. I had put it there to hide it from the puppy, who is hell bent on destroying everything in its sight. Both inside and outside. Its an old one I got from the charity shop down the road for a couple of dollars, just gessoed over it a couple of times to hide what was originally on it and now can use it. Its great because its about 4 ft x 3ft which has a bit of size to it. Have done drawings large before but never a painting. So is a great one to practice on. Also got a triangular canvas from Spotlight for Xmas, 4 parts, its not very big but will be interesting to sort out what I will put on it. These are just a couple of pen and ink I did awhile ago from an art book. I actually started on a pastel the other night, and will have to get that one finished now.
Isn't it funny how some peoples smiles can light a place up. I just went to the shops a little while ago, and as walking out a guy came in, we nearly collided, but the smile on his face was just incredible. Some people seem to have this inner glow that just comes through and can change an atmosphere in just a sec. Have a great day!
